The spur trail loops around the cul de sac at the south end of Sasseville Way and becomes a sidepath into the Boston Scientific property. Note short sight distance past fence at left. A lack of understanding of sight distance issues, and human factors issues -- that pedestrians will take shortcuts, and that bicyclists may, and do, use the road, is apparent in the design choices here. The pedestrianization of American bicycling takes a little pedal stroke forward, as the motoring majority applauds this facility and disparages bicyclists and pedestrians who decline to use it. Let's just hope that laws are not passed in Massachusetts requiring us always to take the longer route, while motorists may continue to take the shorter one. it has happened elsewhere.
